This mosaic was acquired by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on Sol 870 (July 5, 2006). The image was taken to help the rover drivers plan Opportunity's traverse on its way to Victoria crater. Because some of Beagle crater is visible in this image, it was taken in color rather than the usual grayscale used for drive planning. The field of view spans about 60°.
Pancam's 753nm, 535nm, and 432nm filters were used in making this mosaic. Two versions are provided at full resolution: an approximate true color rendering, and a false color rendering which enhances the subtle color differences in the scene.
