"Mission Success Pan"
This panorama was acquired in eight parts called
octants, over the course of three different sols.
Because the octants were taken at different times
of day and across different days when the dust
abundance was changing, there were large
brightness and color seams between the octants in
the assembled mosaic. The rendering presented
here has had these seams corrected by balancing
the colors manually between octants. An
"average" sky color from one of the octants was
also used to remove the seams in the sky in the
original mosaic. These kinds of image processing
steps yield an aesthetically more consistent
rendering of the scene as it would have been
viewed if Spirit's cameras could have obtained
the whole panorama all at once.
The 'full size' image links currently go to a half resolution version of this panorama. A full resolution version is being worked on and will be posted shortly.
